HISTOLOGY OF ALIMENTERY CANAL( Layers of alimentery canal)

GENERAL HISTOLOGY OF ALIMENTERY CANAL

Four basic layers ( out side to inside )

1-     a) Visceral Peritoneum( serosa )

2-    b)  Muscular coat /Muscularish externa

3-      c)Sub – mucosa

4-     d) Mucosa

1 – VISCERAL PERITONEUM /SEROSA

Ø   Made up of squamous epithelium.

Ø  Continuous with MESENTERY ( the mesentery is a contagious set of tissue ) that attaches the intestine to the posterior abdominal wall and is formed by a double fold of peritoneum. It helps

In storing fat and allowing blood vessels, lymphatic and nerves to supply the intestine among

other function.

2 –MUSCULAR COAT / MUSCULARISH EXTERNA

Ø  It has two-layer

Ø  Outer layer --  Longitudinal muscle fibre

Ø  Inner layer  --  Circler muscle fibre

Ø  In stomach --   Oblique muscle fibre also present

Ø  Smooth and unstriated muscle.

3- SUB – MUCOSA

Ø  Loose connective tissue.

Ø  Richly supplied by blood and lymph vessels.

Ø  In some portion may have numerous glands.

Ø  Messenger's plexus ( submucosal plexus ) present which controls the secretion of intestinal juice.

4 – MUCOSA

Ø  There are three parts ( outside to lumen ) – Lumen actually is the cavity of the alimentary canal.

Ø  A) Muscularish mucosa

Ø  B) Lamina propia

Ø  C) Epithelium
